What is mining graphics card?

mining gpuSo far mining cryptocurrency is concerned, GPU mining is far more popular than CPU mining and staking. GPU mining is a type of mining cryptocurrency through a Graphics Card or a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) fitted in the motherboard. Since GPU mining is much faster than the other two it requires extremely high standard Graphics Card.Since its inception, the pioneer cryptocurrency – Bitcoin, has been mined through common GPUs though lately ASIC or the Application Specific Integrated Circuit Chips have reduced the load from the GPUs in mining Bitcoins. However, the followers of Bitcoin, such as ethereum , Ripple, Litecoin are still unable to benefit from the specialised hardware and as a result – are greatly mined through GPUs.

Though the manufacturers of Graphics Cards are not developing products solely for mining but keeping the market demand in mind, they have hugely improved the performance of the cards in recent years. And also with a steady demand in the market, they have kept the price considerably high. There are no Mining Graphics Card or a graphics card specifically built for the purpose of mining but they run in a simple formula – the more the power, the better the performance.

Let us take a look at the available GPUs mostly used by the miners. These cards, though, are not officially disclosed as Mining Graphics Cards but are developed with an extremely high power which is not required for regular computer use or even extensive gaming. The AMD Radeon R9 295X2 (8GB), which can hash about 50 MH/sec, is the best among all.

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 (8GB) is also very high-performance Graphics Card and is very popular among the miners. It produces about half the performance of the AMD Radeon R9 but also cost about half. AMD’s next generation card AMD AMD Radeon RX 580 (8GB) is also an extremely effective card with good value for money. Despite the fact that the AMD Radeon R9 model is much effective than the others in mining extremely fast, it consumes very high power and in effect, it increases the cost of electricity while mining. The other GPUs are comparatively much less power consuming and have more value for the price.

So far characteristics of Mining Graphics Card is concerned, A very high memory, preferably 8GB GDDR5, High level of Core clock, ideally above 1200 MHz and a very high memory clock, preferably 8GBPS with a low power consumption under 200 Watts are the facts to check.

All major Graphics Card manufacturers are facing tremendous demand from the market and are trying to develop more powerful GPUs so it is expected that soon the parameters will change but at present, any graphics card from the major brands which match the criteria can be used as Mining Graphics Card.
